Does anyone know how I can obtain my cencus record for proof of my identity and current name for the last five years? I received a letter from the State department asking for this to renew my passport (they spelled my middle name wrong years ago, so this is the hang up). I’ve been searching the cencus website but can’t find how to get this.

Just to add, I am married so my maiden name is on baptismal records, school records, etc. All I really have to show my current name for at least five years is my marriage certificate, and maybe census records? Thanks.

I’ve never heard that you use that, since the census records are held in private for 40 or 50 years.
You CAN use a baptismal record, a birth certificate, perhaps some school records, or maybe doctor records.

I find it odd that they would request census records; those records are only in the public record until 1930. Isn’t your birth certificate enough?
