Not everyone can visit North Korea. I am Canadian and live in South Korea, and a co-worker of mine has visited several times.

You may only visit North Korea by guided tour. Not all nationalities can visit…especially South Koreans can not visit on a tour. Actually, my co-worker had to alter documents so that the North Korean government did not know he had worked in South Korea previously (even though he was Canadian, he would not be allowed in). He also had to enter the country via China.

Some South Koreans have visited the North in the past few years in government-organized "summits" to re-unite families that have been torn apart. The visits, sadly, last only a couple of days. Three days to catch up on decades of missed memories with your spouse or children. Heartbreaking.

I dont think you can honestly…

And who in their right mind would want to visit north korea just for the hell of it? lol

I watched a movie on north korea in U.S. history and the streets are empty, nobody is out or nothing, creepy!

South Koreans can’t, I don’t think anyone else can either. The only filmed footage that I know of that is not released by the North Korean government or it’s media has been done with hidden cameras and then smuggled out. They don’t want to know how badly people are suffering there, especialy the orphans who live on the streets and pick scraps of food out of the dirt. It’s heart breaking

No, you need special permission. If you really want to, it is possible, but takes alot of your time filling out all these forms, and making some lies. Usually just for reporters and the like.

    Yes.. U can…

Travel to North Korea is only possible as part of a guided tour. Independent travel is not permitted.

  6. Joriental says:

    Yes you can.
There are a tour from both Korea side and China side.
World media use these tours sometime.
However, you can not bring any thing with the name of "South Korea". Because They do not admit that another Korea exist on this earth.
eg. if there is a word "South Korea" on your book, the tour will tear it up.

I’m sure an American won’t be permitted to visit there individually.
