Don’t listen to what Jula tells; there is a way of issuing a Schengen visa for only one country, this applies if a travel document of the applicant is not valid for all Schengen countries or if one Schengen country refuses the entry, the visa however is still issued to a single country on humanitarian grounds.

So if your visa states valid for "Nederland" or valid for "BNL" you really should not risk to travel to France; only if your visa states valid for "Schengenstaten" you may freely travel to all other Schengen countries.

If you fly you will have to show your passport, and most likely they check your visa and deny you entry to the plane.
Surface travel it is less likely that you will be checked.
But if they do catch you, random checks at all crossing points for cars and in bus and train, you will be fined and may be send home from France.
I would think it is not worth it, but it is your risk.
Is your visa a Schengen Visa which you applied for through NL? Because a Schengen visa, regardless of which country you received from, lets you travel into all Schengen countries. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schengen_Area this shows you all the countries that those in possession of a Schengen Visa can travel too.
