i want to improve my tagalog so badly – i study in a chinese school so you can count on students to be not-super-good in tagalog but i’m soon going to enter college and i want my tagalog to be so improved. thus, i want to improve it by reading tagalog essays and short stories.
the question is, where can i find those online?
whenever i type "maikling kuwentong tagalog", "sanaysay" whatsoever, the results are definitions. Or winners of the palanca award etc. help me!

Well, for starters, i found this one:
http://www.seasite.niu.edu/Tagalog/tagalog_short_stories_fs.htm
I admire your eagerness to learn tagalog and there are a lot of good short stories out there but having read a lot of tagalog short stories
myself, most of them tends to use ‘old’ or ‘deep’ (sorry, can’t think of a better term right now) tagalog words that could become confusing especially for non-native tagalogs.
I am a native speaker of the language but there were several words that i did not understand until after some time or some that i misunderstood. So although tagalog short stories are good and they can really widen you vocabulary, i won’t really suggest them to someone who’s still trying to familiarize him/herself to the language. If you want, you can try watching mainstream tagalog movies first since they use conversational tagalog and are less likely to contain unnecessary tagalog words (cuss words and the likes) as compared to some indie films (i’m not generalizing of course). You can watch some here:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/showtag?tag=fmovie&type=2
It mostly contain romantic dramas and films, but i’ve found more serious ones. Some are actually award-winning ones. I’d suggest you try Anak, Magnifico and Dekada 70 (btw a lot of the movies/series have english subs so even if you can’t understand some of the tagalog words, you can catch up through the english subs)
And if this suggestion does not appeal to you, you can always chat or interact more with native tagalog speakers or browse filipino sites perhaps.
u can get it from a library… go t the nat’l library or just a library of a school…
Hello, I’m searching google and found your blog nice post. Mabuhay Sikat ang Pinoy!
Usually Tagalog essays and short stories are written in formal Tagalog. If you want to learn everyday Tagalog, try a course with conversations and translations.
